在取经途中，唐僧无意中闯进了黄袍怪的洞府。黄袍怪的夫人原是宝象国公主百花羞，十三年前被掳进波月洞。她悄悄放走唐僧，请他给父王送信。师徒三人去到宝象国，国王思念女儿，恳请八戒、沙僧上山降妖。二人不是妖怪对手，沙僧被擒，八戒逃回馆驿。黄袍怪变做俊俏郎君，去国中拜见岳父，并施展妖法，将唐僧变做老虎囚禁笼中。白龙马为救师父，变作宫女，伺机刺杀黄袍怪，却力不能胜，受伤潜入水中。八戒来到花果山，用激将法请回孙悟空。
