玉华州国王下旨逐僧。唐僧师徒来到州境，扮成客商，住进小店。适逢三个太子领兵盘查，四人分别躲进米缸、衣箱、席筒、木柜内，被抬进宫去听候发落。夜间，悟空用隐身术潜入宫中，作法把国王、王后、妃嫔、太监及满朝文武顶上头发全部剃光。国王受此教训，自认排佛之过，礼遇唐僧师徒。三个太子拜悟空、八戒、沙僧为师，习学武艺，并连夜仿造铁棒、钉耙、禅仗。不料黄狮精使妖风摄走三件兵器，准备召开“钉耙宴”。悟空、八戒、沙僧设计进入妖洞，夺回兵器。黄狮精请来竹节山盘桓洞九头狮精率众狮助战，擒走国王、唐僧及三个太子。悟空请来太乙真人，收伏狮精，悟空等才得继续传教武艺。
